The original plan was to take Carter and Nathaniel for their second-visit-of-the-week to the nearby drop-in centre, where they'd celebrate their big day with some of the neighbourhood youngsters and the usual itinerary of play and sing-a-longs. But when we got there, we were greeted by a closed door and a sign that was short on info. So back home it was, and my coworkers were treated to a sudden anonymous donation of 80 Timbits....
Of course, there was plenty of fun to be had on familiar turf. We held off on the gift ceremony--sure to become a recurring event that will only gain momentum and scale with successive passing year--until the end of my work day and then it was on to the good stuff: cards from family and friends (some very generous cash donations that I assure everyone will be well spent!), emails from admirers literally around the world (from the U.S. to the U.K. and places between), and of course, presents...
The boys seemed to notice the impromptu decorations right away --the balloon sculptures were courtesy of Lidia's workplace--as well as the large box of MegaBloks from auntie Rowena. To close out the day, we spent some time building things and then smashing them up. All-in-all, not a bad warm-up for the real party to be held next week...
