On April 26, Nathaniel met kindly Dr. Bader for the first time for a brief optical exam at his uptown practice. Of course, everything was fine, but the doc suggested that his brother get checked out, too, since by the time most eye problems are diagnosed in children, they're well into advanced stages.
Well, that was sound reason for us! So a week later, we took the frustrating route across town yet again for Carter. Neither of the boys cared much for the bright lights or the dye test (even though Dr. Bader is wonderful with kids), but the waiting room offered them an assortment of vintage toys and books and some respectable room to roam.
