The Boys At Large!

Brush Brusha...

Carter's first encounter with the toothbrush was a successful one--not sure what, exactly, is in that tube with Thomas The Tank Engine on the label, but he likes it, so much that we had to take his brush away from him. Nathaniel didn't quite care for it as much, but we'll give it time. Maybe they need his-and-his toothpase...investigating the range of possibilities begins now...

Wake Up, Sleepy Bunnies...

I'd hoped to pay a surprise visit to the boys in the park at lunch, but the combination of Shelly's plus the usual Stanley Park drill knocked the boys out by 1pm. Guess it'll take them a while to adjust to the new schedule...

Between The Raindrops...

A quick frolic through the park this afternoon--that dark cloud on the horizon got a lot larger, and closer, with each kick of the ball...

Photo-Op

A rare photo of the boys together--and looking at the camera. You have no idea how hard it is to get a shot like this--I think it'd be easier to photograph the Loch Ness Monster. How did anyone ever take pictures of kids pre-digital? It can take two dozen attempts just to get one image like this...

Bathing Beauties...

Post-bath, pre-nap--the boys have one last hurrah before lights-out...

New Art

The boys decided to experiment in a new medium at Shelly's today--I think these would sell for a fortune at Sotheby's!

Multi-Media

No one in this household is afraid of technology, but we keep up with tradition as well. The boys love their stories and songs, and like their mom and dad, get 'em any way they can. Here, Carter flips through a thing they used to call a "book", while Nathaniel expertly navigates digital offerings...

And If You Clean Your Heavy Service Vehicles, You Can Have Dessert...

Some nights, all it takes to get the boys to eat is serving it up in a dump truck and steam shovel. As long as we're not doing it when they're thirty...

Fall Fashions

Dressed up in new fall duds and raring to get going to Shelly's Drop-In...I don't think our place can sustain any more damage...

In N' Out Patients...

The boys weren't too crazy on getting their MMR shots from Dr. P this morning--but when we arrived, the waiting room was completely vacant and our business was over and done with in mere minutes!

Carter once again takes the lead in the weight department--22.16 lbs to Nathaniel's 22.5--but otherwise, the boys are the very image of perfect health. We were even home in time to catch The Imagination Movers' end title song (Nathaniel's favorite). The boys aren't scheduled for another visit for three months--they'll be 2 years old by then!

Carter's Solo Walk

...well, not quite "solo"--Pops was with him, after all. Since I had to make a quick run to nearby Helmutt's Pet Supplies for treats for Minnie and Maggie, why not take the boys along? But with Nathaniel's cold still on-the-mend, it seemed a bit risky to take him outside with Dr. P's clean bill of health, so Carter got to enjoy the rare privilege of a solo outing.

Upset that we weren't heading to the park, his protests were quickly extinguished by the spectacle of Queen Street traffic and the neighbourhood's unique shops.

Carter helped me select the flavours (Salmon and Beef) and did a few dog impressions before we headed back...the long way, of course...

..with a customary stop to inspect the school bus and the Zoom Boom...

New Jammies

The boys always looks sharp, day or night...but especially, night...

Mom And Dad At The Toronto Film Fest...

Thanks to the services of the ever-reliable Karen, and some careful scheduling, Mom and Dad were able to continue their annual ritual of attending the Toronto International Film Festival, esp. now that the new Bell Lightbox command centre has opened up just a few blocks away from home, and the entire spectacle has moved from its usual Bloor/Yonge hub with it. The excellent vampire remake "Let Me In", the bittersweet drama "Girlfriend" (featuring a gifted actor with Down Syndrome) and a new horror shocker from John Carpenter were just a few of the highlights. In a few years, Carter and Nathaniel will tag along for the fun...
