The Special FX app is such a hit on the iPad 2 that we can't get enough of it. Here are the boys playing the role of stunt men...risking life and limb in our tiny little living room...

Carter's First Film

I never directed my first movie until I was 12, and it was in Super-8 and cost something like $30 bucks for film and processing. Well, Carter is barely 3 and he's already shot and added special effects to his first short, shot in our living room on the iPad 2, and here it is. Enjoy!

Star Wars: The Remake

Carter has discovered "Star Wars" about, oh, FOUR YEARS earlier than expected, but I guess that's what happens when you have daily exposure to Pops' book, video, and t-shirt collection. Despite an initially lukewarm response to the Millenium Falcon playset at Xmas, Carter can't get enough of Luke, Han, Obi-Wan, and company. Not only did Pops spring for some nifty lightsabres--

--but we found an app online that put us into a short version of the entire trilogy. Here's the first episode, featuring Nathaniel as Luke, Carter as Han Solo (his favorite), Mom as Princess Leia, and Pops sporting some gray hair as Obi-Wan...

Beatles Reunion Rumoured

They may not be top of the charts in our house any more, but The Fab Four still make semi-regular appearances: the odd song from Carter (usually in Wal-Mart--see video), a screening here and there of "Help!" or "A Hard Day's Night", and even the occassional visit from The Beatles Box, although these days, capes are in order. Nathaniel keeps the faith by sporting the "A Hard Day's Night" t-shirt, while his brother has traded in everything for the big red "S"...although this past week, he did sit out Shelly's storytime for a solo rendition of "Get Back" in the classroom mirror, so who knows...?

The Ears Have It...Again....

What's proven to be a mild winter is still taking its toll nonetheless...Carter told us his ears were hurting and we were able to nip it early with a trip to the Liberty Village walk-in and his trusty antibiotics. Another week of "yucky medicine" but it'll be all gone, and Carter by now is a seasoned vet and always a little trooper...

Kathy & Chris Visit Shelly's

A special day at Shelly's--not only were Mom and Pops present (something must be up!) but so were special guests Kathy and Chris: Nathaniel's speech therapists from Surrey Place. They'd heard me talk about the drop-in for some time now and could see how it was such a positive influence on Nathaniel, but had never attended a session. So they slipped in quietly this morning and were very impressed by the entire program. So much stimulation and attention, so many activities, so many friends, and Nathaniel was up front and having a good time. Shortly after story time we all slipped out--not that we were missed...well, maybe just a little...
