Oh What A Night!

The dubiously-qualified geniuses demolishing the derelict house just a few doors down managed to hit the buried gas line causing a massive evacuation of the entire neighbourhood. Good job! It's a wonder we didn't go up in a giant fireball...

As I was approaching my homestead after work, I noticed a crowd had gathered at the corner of Adelaide and Tecumseth and I was informed I wasn't allowed to venture any further. Updated on the situation, I grew tired of waiting, and more than a little concerned, and took the long route along King and cut through the complex to get home, where a police car was blocking the way. I could smell the gas...

Once inside, I was surprised to learn that no one was aware of the situation. Soon, Carter noticed the firefighters on our street and took the windowseat view...

Before long, the police ordered us to evacuation. Of course, there was only one logical destination...the park.

En route to the restaurant, the boys got a chance to sit upfront in a fire truck, thanks to the very kind firefighter "Tom" and his crew... Just about everyone was there--Gabriel, Aaron, Gabby, even Karren--so it wasn't difficult to pass away the hours playing. But as night fell, we were informed the cleanup would still take several more hours...

One of our neighbours, who once worked in construction, commented on the many violations he'd noticed from his casual survey of the project...he now regretted not having call in a complaint...

We chowed down at The Foggy Dew, and timed our return well. By the time we'd paid the bill, the street was once again open...
