Week 10: First School Trip!

Pops took the day off to accompany the boyos--and Karren--on their first-ever class trip to The Royal Winter Fair at the nearby Ex grounds...

Once parental volunteers (like me) had been assigned students (Carter and Nathaniel, plus Niko), we made our way outside to Bathurst Street to catch the streetcar to Exhibition Stadium...

Before long, we all boarded. Carter and Niko managed to secure a seat together...
Within minutes, we'd arrived safely at the Ex grounds....

Everybody out!

Inside to the Direct Energy Building, where we'd spend our day...

We grouped for another roll call...

Inside, we paused for snacks and potty breaks...

Before joining Miss P and Ms. Ruth inside...
For the long line to the President's Choice Superdogs Show, which the boys had just missed at The Ex this past summer...
Despite the insane line--which seemed to consist of every other school in the Toronto area--we secured great seats in the second row from the show floor....
Carter and Nathaniel enjoyed the show immensely...
As did their good friend Niko...
And Karren...
A fire alarm cut the show short by about 10 minutes...
Which Niko clearly didn't approve of...
But we caught most of it and it was great fun.  The class regrouped outside for lunch. Niko sampled most of ours--pasta--in lieu of the lunch his folks had prepared...
We then had about 2 hours to kill. First stop: the petting zoo, where the boys offered the barnyard animals a snack...

Then through the agricultural centre--those are some big pumpkins, just like in the Imagination Movers episode...
Another stop for ice cream...

Enjoyed by all...
After Niko and Carter sampled the farm equipment...
And Pops stocked up on pickle-on-a-stick and some pepperettes, we all boarded the streetcar back to Niagara Public School...

Carter wanted to stay, despite permission to go home early, so we let him stay a bit longer...
At the end of the school day, Pops, Karren, and Nathaniel greeted Carter for a romp in the park, to take advantage of the unseasonably nice weather...

With expected results...
