Nathaniel's Solo Turn At Surrey: Pt. 1

This morning, while Carter was holding the fort solo at school, Nathaniel was back at Surrey Place not for the dreaded hearing test (that's a few weeks away, sorry little guy), but this time, to meet Dr. Lo and his staff for an "assessment", which is really just a highfalutin' way of saying an evaluation of Nathaniel's current abilities and to decide what areas still need more work...

The familiar "Bubble Guppies" certainly took the edge off, as Nathaniel set off to explore the empty waiting room....
Strange, it was underpopulated just about every avenue we explored...I can't recall Surrey ever being this quiet...
Hey, there's Kathy! We haven't seen her in a few weeks...
And there's the very friendly Dr. Lo and his student assistants...
We brought along some of Miss P's comments, and chatted about Kathy's history with Nathaniel and his many strengths.  There was then a general discussion of what needed more work, specifically, speech, using utensils, and focus...
Playtime in Dr. Smitheringale's checkup room...
After many, many questions, Pops took Nathaniel out for a break and a stroll and we found the music room (empty, of course). Nathaniel remembered how to get up to the faucets and, well, you can figure it out from there...
Outside the window, a new playground was under construction...
Back to the waiting room, where Kathy brought a few cool toys.
She remembered how skilled Nathaniel was at puzzle games, so we played with mouse shapes and a Calliou book...
Back in the exam room, Dr. Lo and co. watched Nathaniel at play, where he very much enjoyed the "ping" of the toy oven and Pops' enhanced sound effects.  Ever taste a baked measuring tape? Me neither...
For the final hurrah, it was time to take his weight (30lbs) and height (4 ft)...
Alas, after nearly 2 and a half hours, we were told this would be the first of three parts!
 After class, Kyla visited...
 The gang enjoyed marshmellow treats...
And before bed, we were able to convince the boys to snack on something actually good for them...how do you like them apples? Quite a bit, actually...
